Laptop Keyboard Control of Final Fantacy VII

 

As I found there are a number of people struggling trying to figure out how FF7 (,the original one, not Crisis Core) works on laptop, I think it might be help if I give some basic infor that when I installed FF7 on a netbook with windows 7.  No patch for laptop keyboard is needed.

Basically, I did not have any problem to install or have the game running.

Keyboard control are give in default:

Lauch the game. K/J to skip credits.

WASD---direction up left down right

J---cancel

K---confirm/enter
F---HELP, show the exit/entrance/next destination, red/green triangles will appear, red for exit, green for ladder.

U---menu for equip/inventory/party management/status/save/settings... use settings will enable you to reset keyboard etc. Unequip.

Basic HOW_TO questions

1. How to enter name using laptop keyboard set?

Enter name using letters,backspace to delete, space for space.Press NumLock, right numpad (

the small one) will be enabled. Key referred in the following is for the locked numpad. PressO/6 to jump to right section, use

K/2, U/4, O/6, 8/8 to navigate to the choice you like, press "enter" next to P to confirm. Name chosen. Release NumLock.

2.How to run?
Press WASD plus J (direction + cancel key)
3.How to use ladders?
Facing ladder(there will be a green triangle if F pressed), press K(enter) to jump on/off ladder,use direction keys to navigate
4. How to navigate during battles?
WASD to navigate, K to choose, J to cancel, very direct.When limit reached,use K to release.
